Clear forest air, the soft, steady
sound of water flowing nearby.
No city noise, no bright distractions—
just a place where stillness gently settles in.
On star-filled nights, look up and
lose yourself in the sky.
On sun-dappled mornings,
hold a warm cup of coffee and linger.
Here, surrounded by nature,
breathe slowly and deeply,
unhurried, uninterrupted,
letting time drift quietly by

Restoring a 150-year-old Japanese House
About an hour west of central Tokyo, the Akigawa Valley marks the gateway to Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park— once a thriving hub for timber bound for Edo.
Even today, rich forests stretch along the Akigawa River,
often called Tokyo’s last clear stream.
The BO-SHA building dates back to the early Meiji period
and was originally used by a sericulture farming family.
Together with local craftsmen, we restored the farmhouse with our own hands, carefully preserving the spirit of satoyama life and culture.
Reimagined as a private retreat for just one group per day,
the house has been given new life— a quiet place to slow down and breathe with the forest.

Forest, Stream, and the Scent of Coffee
Beside the main house, the quiet presence of a small coffee hut. Warm notes of roasted beans drift softly through the trees.
By the gentle flow of the Fukasawa River, an open field stretches wide beneath the sky. Freestanding shelters
rest among the forest— a place to follow the passing clouds, to count the stars, and to settle into open-air living, undisturbed.
